Citing Baku’s continued racist statements during the 30th anniversary of the Baku pogroms, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan said “under no circumstances can Artsakh become part of Azerbaijan.”
Naghdalyan made the statement Thursday in response to a reporter’s question during the foreign ministry’s daily press briefing when asked to comment on high-level Azerbaijani officials’ reaction on the 30th anniversary of the Baku pogroms.
“First of all, I would like to emphasize that a number of important commemorative events were held on the 30th anniversary of the anti-Armenian pogroms in Baku and numerous articles about the barbaric annihilation of the Armenian community in Baku have been and continue to be published in the international media on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the anti-Armenian pogroms in Baku,” said Naghdalyan.
“Unfortunately, this year the authorities of Azerbaijan again explicitly or implicitly continued the policy of justifying the actions of the masterminds of the anti-Armenian massacres in Baku 30 years ago and the perpetrators of those massacres. Moreover, the perpetrators of the massacres against defenseless people were glorified as “shahids (martyrs)” by Hikmet Hajiyev, the Assistant to the President, while the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan accused Armenians themselves of perpetrating the anti-Armenian massacres in Sumgait,” explained the foreign ministry spokesperson.
“Azerbaijan’s behavior is common among perpetrators of crimes: blame the victims for their crimes and deny any responsibility for public and systematic extermination of unarmed people in peacetime,” said Naghdayan.
“This clearly illustrates, once again, that under no circumstances Azerbaijani authorities can be entrusted with the responsibility of providing security to any part of the Armenian people. Apparently, under no circumstances Artsakh can become a part of Azerbaijan, and the people of Artsakh cannot be left without secure lines of defense,” declared the foreign ministry spokesperson.
I agree
What does one expect from Tatar or Seljuk Turks? Every meeting this fact should be emphasized that Artsakh will never be part of any artificial sate of Azerbaijan and in fact there are current territories that belong to Artsakh that Azerbaijan is currently squatting on that needs to be liberated. Also demand the compensation of the hundreds of thousands that were forced to flee Azerbaijan programs with NOTHING..Above all the constant need to arm the Armenian and Artsakh army Otherwise they will continue the genocide and its denial and the international community will do NOTHING..Its up to us! Always has been..
Armenians should not expect much from world powers, they are in the business of what’s in it for me, specially most politicians these days are corrupt and are bought and sold like tomatoes in a market, without moral values, NO political vision, and NO shame.
First of all, I think Artsakh will NEVER be part of artificial Azerbaijan would have been much more appropriate title for this article. It was LIBERATED IN 1994 and the only matter worthy of discussion is when it will be reunited with Armenia. The most critical and important issue today concerning Armenia should be the unconditional demilitarization and the expulsion of Turkish and pseudo-Turkish criminal gangs form the occupied ancient Armenian province of Nakhijevan.
There should be no doubt in the minds of any and all Armenians that the true intention of terrorist artificial Azerbaijan is not just the reoccupation of Artsakh with a fairy tale “autonomy” for the Armenian population there but rather it is the reoccupation and depopulation of Artsakh from the native Armenians. When the artificial Azerbaijani chicken-hawk (chicken for being an MIA during the war and hawk afterwards with pockets full of petrodollars) and terrorist fake leader Aliyev openly and publically claims that not just the local Armenians but all Armenians across the world and regardless of where they were born and raised are the enemies of his artificial state AND makes claims to all Armenian territories then there should be no doubt in our minds what his real intentions are.
Both ancient Armenian provinces of Artsakh and Nakhijevan were taken away from Armenia a century ago, made so-called autonomous regions but placed under artificial Azerbaijan-SSR jurisdiction, and we saw the result of that within seventy years a couple of decades ago. In 1921 when this illegal territorial transfer took place, the Armenian population of occupied Artsakh was over ninety percent. The Armenian population of Nakhijevan was over fifty percent. By 1988 when the Artsakh Liberation Movement began, and through deliberate and racist anti-Armenian Azerbaijani policies with full intention of forcing the indigenous Armenians out of these regions, the Armenian population in Artsakh dropped by a quarter down to around seventy percent and the Armenian population in Nakhijevan was non-existent. What was done to the Armenians in Nakhijevan was awaiting them in Artsakh as well. It was just a matter of time.
Fortunately, the force (Soviet Union) behind and responsible for the misappropriation of ancient Armenian territories to the pseudo-Turkish artificial Azerbaijani state which they along with terrorist and genocidal Turkish state helped invent at the end of WWI in 1918 and for the very first time in history, came to an end and allowed the Armenians to take their fate into their own hands and LIBERATE a piece, but a very important piece for the security and survival of Armenia, from the anti-Armenian and pan-Turkic racist and fascist enemy. We must liberate the other piece, the occupied ancient Armenian province of Nakhijevan (Նախիջեվան in Armenian and meaning: The Original/Last Resting Place of Noah), and make the recovery and restoration of occupied eastern Armenian territories complete. Then onto the liberation of occupied Western Armenia from terrorist and genocidal Central Asian Turkish hyenas!
This statement is dangerous and may cause a new war in spring. I’m sad to say this. But it is how things may change.
