Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian and the Prelacy’s Religious and Executive Councils mourn the passing of Prof. Ara Manash, renowned maestro, teacher, and long-time St. Garabed Church choirmaster, which occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Prof. Ara Manash served for many years as conductor of the St. Garabed Church choir in Hollywood and of the Hamazkayin Los Angeles “Kousan” choir, which he helped establish. He taught music at Rose and Alex Pilibos School and was an active member of the Raffi Romanian-Armenian Cultural Association.

In October of 2004, he was awarded the “St. Mesrob Mashdots” medal by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, which was presented by the Prelate.

We convey our condolences to his children Varujan and Ani, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 8, at Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn, presided by the Prelate.

May his memory remain ever-blessed.
