YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)An agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Regional Organization was signed in Tsakhkadzor by representatives of the World Scout Bureau and representatives from the national scout organizations of Armenia–Moldova–Tajikistan–Belarus and Georgia.
The World Scout Bureau received a written statement requesting the confirmation of the organization’s establishment. A decision was made to call a preliminary convention for the new organization on April 28–1998 in Yerevan.
According to Chairman of Armenia’s national scout organization Haroutiun Haroutiunian– establishment of the organization is a serious step in the activation and development of the scout movement in the region. He stressed that Armenia has its own representative in the temporary committee of the regional organization. The temporary committee–which includes three Armenian members–will work on the preparation of the constituent assembly.
The world scout movement includes 147 countries. Armenia is among the three states which will join the movement in the near future.
