Councilmember Chick Honored at AYF Banquet

ENCINOLos Angeles City Council member Laura Chick was honored

Saturday for her commitment and support of the Armenian-American community during the Armenian Youth Federation San Fernando Valley "Sardarabad" chapter’s annual dinner dance at Ferrahian High School’s "Avedissian" hall.

Armenian National Committee of San Fernando Valley chairman Mardig Gaboudian introduced Chick and invited "Sardarabad" chapter chairman Missak Keshishian who present the councilmember with a plaque honoring her service to the community and her support of Armenian-American concerns at City Hall. He also announced the Valley ANC’s endorsement of Chick’s re-election during the April 8 municipal elections.

A touched Chick–told the more than 600 gathered that the ANC’s support was very important for her campaign and praised the ANC–the AYF and the entire Armenian-American community for their contributions to Los Angeles and the entire state of California.

In conclusion she also discussed the issue of term limits–stating that per California law–city council members cannot serve for more than eight years. She advised the Armenian community to seriously consider the LA City Council as a viable political option.
