POW Exchange Takes Place

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An exchange of six Armenian and four Azeri POW’s supervised by the International Committee of Red Cross took place Friday.

Two airplanes carrying the POW’s simultaneously took off in Baku and Yerevan at 6:00 p.m. local time and arrived at their destination an hour and a half later.

Initially–the exchange was to have taken place at 2 p.m.–however–it was delayed when the Azeris set new conditions at the last minute.

The Armenia’s released Fayig Kazimov–Nazim Mekhtiyev–Salahaddin Kasoum-zade and Elchin Jafarov. The Azeris freed Arman Babajanian–Minas Vartanian–Vahagn Hovsepian–Armen Poghossian–Karen Gevorkian and Artak Beglarian.

The exchange was said to have been followed by the Ambassadors of countries co-chairing the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Minsk group.
