New Diaspora Armenia Committee Formed

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Levon Ter-Petrosyan issued a decree Monday setting up a State Council coordinating relations between Armenia and the Diaspora.

The decree was prompted by the need for stronger relations between the Homeland and the Diaspora–and will create new structures to ensure efficient cooperation under the present conditions in Armenia.

The official statement published in the press says that the State Council coordinating relations between Armenia and the Diaspora will consist of the following members: prime minister–foreign minister–minister of education and the sciences–minister of culture–youth and sports affairs–minister of privatization and foreign investment and deputy parliament speaker.

The reestablished council has been ordered to work out and improve its regulations jointly with experts from the Diaspora.
