New Evidence Emrges in “Trial of 31″

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Hrant Atanessian is a fictional name created by Armen Khanbabian–editor of Respublika Armenia –said "Trial of 31" public defender Bagrat Yesayan at a recent session of the trial–in response to a letter–written supposedly in confidentiality– published in the newspaper late last year–which Khanbabian claimed was from Vahan Hovanessian.

Khanbabian–who implicated Hovanessian as the writer of the letter which was addressed fellow defendant Dushmanchik–is now reported to have been written by Khanbabian himself and submitted to the newspaper.

The letter reveals that Dushmanchik is the pseudonym for Karapet Kazarian–where in reality Karen Karapetian is in fact Dushmanchik.

Hovanessian emphatically denies the handwriting of the letter as belonging to him.

Khanbabian’s reply to the inquiry of the Supreme Court of Armenia enclosed with the copy of the aforementioned letter was announced at the court hearing. It says that the letter was sent to the editorial office by the Khanbabian himself.

According to Khanbabian’s written reply–the statement "we’ve got other–rather interesting messages," belongs to the author of the letter.

In Khanbabian’s opinion–if the graphologic examination finds that the author of the letter was not Hovhanessian–it will mean that "we’ve been misled by careless information."
