Armenia to Assist Iran Earthquake Victims

YEREVAN (Respublica Armenia)–The government of Iran appealed to Armenia with request for humanitarian aid to help with the aftermath of the disastrous Saturday earthquake. By Monday–2,400 people had died– more than 6,000 were injured–and 135 villages were destroyed.

A decree by Levon Ter-Petrosyan–mandated the Armenian Department on Emergency Situations to begin preparation for humanitarian cargo for those who were suffering from the earthquake.

The aid was expected to have been delivered to Iran Tuesday.
