YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–British Ambassador John Mitchiner and representative Mary-Ann Giry from the Central Asian and Transcaucasian Division of the British Department of Trade and Industry–recently visited the Nairit chemical company in Armenia.
The visit was scheduled by the British who have a substantial interest in Nairit.
Nairit is one of the major chemical companies in Armenia’specializing in producing chloroprene rubber. Armenia is one of the world’s six chloroprene producing countries–According to Nairit’s managing director Haik Gevorgian–the British did not approve of selling the company at an international auction–saying that Nairit is a national wealth and no one would know who the owners would be or even if it would be kept operating.
