20 New Members Join ARF Ranks

ENCINO–At an oath ceremony held Saturday–20 novices joined the ran’s of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Western United States.

During the ceremony–which took place at the Holy Martyrs Ferrahian Armenian School’s Dickranian Hall–the newly sworn in members were welcomed to the more than 100-year-old organization. Edward Meserlian–who administered the oath–noted that the ARF’s primary purpose is to serve–without bounds and limitations–the Armenian people.

He emphasized that although the organization finds itself under pressured circumstances–the addition of qualified young members to the worldwide family of the ARF–will indeed contribute to the realization of the ARF’s mission and goals. He commended the youth for their dedication and commitment.

The message of the ARF-Western US Central Committee was delivered by Krikor Achekian–who explained that the oath ceremony is one of the most sacred processes between ARF members. Welcoming the new members–Achekian went on to say that the new members would bring pride to the organization–and work toward the betterment of the Armenian people and Armenia.

Emphasizing the ARF’s dedication to the survival and renewal of the Armenian spirit–the speaker challenged each novice to set an example and carry on the organization’s work within his or her daily lives–in order to inspire others to do the same.

ARF Bureau member Apo Boghigian told the attendees that the ARF has been the leader in the Armenian people’s struggle against oppression. Boghigian said that although today the government of Armenia’should be the fighter for the Armenian people’s rights–the ARF is–once again–forced to carry on the struggle to meet the needs of the Armenian Nation.

He said that the ARF and its members are ready to sacrifice for their people–and he expressed hope that all members would endure the struggle’s long path.

The new members received copies of books dedicated to the history of the ARF as well as a copy of a book dedicated to Karekin Njdeh.

Following the oath ceremony–more than 100 attendees participated in the evening’s festivities and celebrated to the music of Karnig Sarkissian.

The "Rosdom" chapter of the ARF–in its efforts to acquire a new center–received numerous donations.
