YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia Andrey Ournov met with industrialists–entrepreneurs–representatives of economic structures–ministries–bankers of Armenia Friday.
Aram Vardanian–Chairman of the Industrialists and Businessmen Union of Armenia–said that Russia has been and remains to be the main economic partner for Armenia and the development of economic relations with Russia’should be a priority importance for Armenia.
Everything should be done to restore the broken economic links and establish new ones. "The cooperation should involve all spheres: industry–banking system etc. Armenia-Russia economic relations should enter a completely new phase," he said.
Participants made certain proposals–spoke of the circumstances hampering the development of economic relations. Ournov promised to discuss any proposals by the Armenian side and guaranteed support by the embassy in searching for partners in Russia.
Vardanian also said that the forthcoming international economic conference to take place in St. Petersburg this August will be attended by Armenia’s governmental delegation led by Prime Minister Robert Kocharian and a delegation of Armenian businessmen.
The delegation will take with it a package of documen’s on cooperation and will meet Russian businessmen. Subsequently Russian enterpreneurs are expected to visit Armenia.
