Liquefied Gas Tank Explodes in Armenia

YEREVAN (Itar-Tass)–A liquefied gas tank caught fire and exploded in Gyumri–Armenia–on Tuesday–injuring several people. Local authorities told Itar-Tass Wednesday that the blast shattered windows in nearby houses.

Five fire-fighters who tried to put out the blaze and two passers-by were hospitalized with burns as well.

City authorities prohibited the sale of liquefied gas from tank trucks on Jan. 17–1997–but the ban has often been ignored.
