Tehran Looks to Boost Ties with Yerevan

TEHRAN (Itar-Tass)–Armenia’seeks to boost bilateral ties with Iran and increase regional cooperation–said Armenia’s Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian.

Arzoumanian–who arrived in Iran on Friday–said that "Yerevan attaches special importance to the development of relations with Iran." In his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati–Arzoumanian hailed Iran’s role in the settlement of regional conflicts and called for expanding bilateral ties and multinational cooperation with Iran–Armenia–Turkmen’stan–Georgia and Greece.

Velayati confirmed his country’s readiness to facilitate a speedy resolution to the Karabakh conflict.

Arzoumanian also met Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani to give him a message from Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
