More on Armenia Turkey Border Shooting

YEREVAN (Respublica Armenia)–As reported earlier this week–two Turkish soldiers opened fire in the direction of the Armenian border at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to press service of the Caucasus special border troops of the Russian Federation–the Turkish soldiers first shot some rounds in the air–before directing the fire toward the Armenian border patrol stations. Sources report the shots to have been unprovoked.

No casualties have been reported. Russian border troops in Armenia did not return fire–according to new reports.

A note of protest was sent to the Turkish government. Some ten similar incidents have been reported since the beginning of the year. The Turkish side has justified these incidents as part of their ongoing conflict with the Kurds.
