Unknown Charents Poem Discovered

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–According to officials at the Ministry of Interior and National Security–a never-before seen Russian translation of a poem by Yeghishe Charents was found in the agency’s archives recently.

This finding coincides with the great poet’s 100th birthday–and it is believed that he wrote the piece while in prison at Yerevan Central Jail in 1937.

Tests have indicated that the piece is authentic. Ministry officials will reportedly publish a detailed account of the discovery in 02 Weekly–and the entire text of the poem will appear in the monthly Areresum (confrontation).
