YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An agreement signed between Armenia and the President of Gazprom–Rem Vyakhirev–calls for the active participation of the Russian gas company in helping resume gas supplies to Armenia.
Russia will assist in the organization of payment registration–the repairing of gas meters and pipes and in implementing gas supplies to Turkey through Armenian territory–Energy Minister of Armenia Gagik Martirosian reported on Tuesday.
Martirosian did not rule out the possibility that Gazprom will allocate part of a $2.5 billion loan it had received to set up the joint venture. Martirossian said the negotiations on gas supplies to Turkey are conducted by the Russia’s. Armenia will be a transit country which will be receiving paymen’s for the transportation of gas through its territory.
According to him–the establishment of the joint venture will ensure budget revenues and create new jobs.
