Ecevit Proposes Joining Nakhichevan with Azerbaijan

ISTANBUL (Marmara)–Acknowledging the dilemma in the Caucasus–in a radio address–Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey–Bulent Ecevit stated that if Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan are united–Turkey will have the opportunity to extend itself to the Caspian Sea and Central Asia.

The newly appointed official supports the unification of Nakhichevan and Azerbaijan by way of using Armenia’s Zankezour region as a point of attachment. Armenia would be compensated for the land lost in Zankezour. Ecevit was appointed by the newly placed Turkish Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz.
