BAKU (AP)–Azeri President Geidar Aliyev plans to sign contracts with US oil companies during a visit next week to the United States–an official in the state oil company said Thursday.
The contracts with Chevron–Mobil and Exxon would open up oil and gas development on the Caspian Sea shelf–Davud Yagubov told the Interfax Petroleum Information Agency.
Aliyev–whose nation was once part of the former Soviet Union–begins a visit to the United States Sunday.
