YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The position of the Azeri side in regards to the Karabakh presidential elections is indeed in contradiction to the OSCE-adopted principles," said Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s spokesperson Levon Zourabian during a press conference Tuesday.
Azerbaijan’s Central Electoral Commission described the presidential elections in Karabakh scheduled for September 1 as Armenia’s provocation "on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan aimed at establishing a puppet regime."
According to Zourabian–it is said in one of the OSCE documen’s that Armenia–Azerbaijan and elective authorities of Karabakh are participating in negotiations. Hence it is clear from the document that there need to be elective authorities in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
"If Azerbaijan views it as a crime–well–then that is its own problem," Zourabian commented. Zourabian disagreed with suggestions that Armenia is losing the information war.
As an example–he referred to the fact that in spite of Azerbaijan’s repeated statemen’s that Armenia had occupied 20 percent of its territories–no state had so far recognized that fact. Zourabian admitted that Azerbaijan was very active indeed in the matter of spreading information.
At the same time the spokesman’said–"it is those who are unsuccessful that usually make a fuss."
