UN to Shift Focus of Funds in Armenia

YEREVAN (Respublica Armenii)–Starting in September–United Nations will switch from humanitarian aid to funding development programs in Armenia.

Regional Director of the UN Development program for European and CIS countries Anton Grudering arrived in Yerevan on a one week visit Saturday–to discuss financing of the development programs in Armenia in the coming three years.

According to these programs–$3 million will be provided for reconstruction of Gyumri. Half a million dollars will be allocated for a special program concerning lake Sevan. Technical aid worth $2 million will be provided annually. A total of $12 million will be provided for Armenian development programs within the next three years.
