Yegorian Establishes New Parliamentary Group

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Chairman of the National Assembly standing committee on state and legal issues Edward Yegorian announced the creation of new deputy group named Hairenik which will examine the way and means of reaching resolutions to social issues in Armenia.

"The group was not created for or against any personality or organization. It has been set up to stimulate and promote the development and implementation of constructive programs on development of the society," he said.

He reported that most of the 10 members of the group–having quitted the Republic faction–still remained members of the Armenian National Movement.

According to him the Hairenik group would cooperate both with organizations represented at the National Assembly and those who are not.

Yegorian said that the present complement of the group includes only founders who are to deal with problems of further increasing the size of the group.

General objectives of the group include the development of truly democratic processes–establishment of free market relations–intensification of Armenia’s participation in regional and international programs–development of long-term restructuring programs in different sectors–the enforcement of the law regardless of anyone’s position or rank within the government.
