Foreign Ministry Issues Announcement on OSCE Meeting

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Foreign Ministry of Armenia issued a statement Wednesday regarding the upcoming Dec. 18-19 meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Foreign Ministers in Copenhagen.

The statement read: "The possibility that the Karabakh issue will be discussed at the summit has naturally generated activity in the public. Armenia’s in Armenia and the Diaspora once again expressed their firmness in supporting Karabakh in its aspiration for the right to freedom and self-determination–guarantees for civil security and independence.

"Levon Ter-Petrossyan has already spoken for peaceful resolution of the conflict. Every political figure deman’s from the people to avoid war at any cost. The only exception is the repression of freedom. Our nation will never endure such a repression–even if we are forced to undergo severe trials. Ter-Petrossyan has stretched out his hand for peace. If it remains without response–full responsibility for the further development of events will rest with the opposing side.

"The people of Nagorno Karabakh and its self-defense forces have already proven their ability of bringing their natural right to freedom and liberty into existence. The phenomena needs to be correctly perceived by the international community. In this respect–we are ready to demonstrate patience and try to avoid extremists occurrences as far as possible.
