YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Robert Kocharian will be sworn in as President of the Republic of Armenia–on Thursday–April 9–at 11 a.m. at the Yerevan State Academic Theater.
As required by the Armenian Constitution–the newly elected president is to be sworn in before taking office. According to tradition–Kocharian will swear on the Armenian Constitution and a Bible dated back to the 7th century.
As reported by Vahagn Mkrtchian–head of the National Assembly press service–the ceremony will be attended by officials guests from the Armenian Apostolic Church led by Karekin I–Catholicos of All Armenia’s; government members; Karabakh leaders; foreign diplomats; representatives of political parties; representatives of the Armenian Army; and members of the mass media and business circles. Mkrtchian also reported that special admission permits will be granted to more than 100 journalists accredited by the National Assembly press service. A limited number of video operators and photographers will also be admitted.
