New Cargo Terminal at Zvartnots to Begin Operation in May

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A governmental commission headed by the Minister of Transport Henrik Kochinian examined on Tuesday the construction of the new cargo unit of the Zvartnots International Airport and sanctioned its initiation.

Interviewed by Armenpress reporter Tamara Sargssian. Kochinian stated that the construction of the unit is of high international standards. The opening ceremony of the new cargo unit of the airport is expected in May 1998–he added.

The accommodations of the new unit allow the transfer of up to 100,000 tons of cargo–75,000 tons higher than the old terminal allowed. The $15,420,000 construction of the unit has been realized by the American Bill Herbert Organization through the European Bank Credit Program. Cargo Service Center of Holland will also assist in the operation of the unit.
