Yilmaz Loses First Round of Censure Bid

ANKARA (Reuters)–Turkish Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz on Tuesday lost the first round of an opposition attempt to topple his government through a censure motion.

"The motion has been accepted," deputy speaker Yasin Hatipoglu said after deputies voted by show of hands to pursue a censure motion against Yilmaz–accused of corruption in a land deal. A second round of voting is expected in the coming week.
