Shoushi’s Historic Holy Savior Cathedral Reopens

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Today–Shoushi’s Holy Savior Church has been renovated and offers its blessing to all Armenia’s and Karabakh–so that they as well are revitalized," said Bishop Barkev Mardirossian–Primate of the Karabakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church–at the Sunday grand opening and blessing of the Ghazanchetsots Holy Savior Church.

The redemption of every holy place is a blessed event–the Primate said–adding that it is of value not only to Shoushi–but also to all of Karabakh and the entire Christian world.

On Saturday evening–the entirety of the edifice was blessed with water and wine.

Among those present at the first divine liturgy offered at the renovated Holy Savior Church were Karabakh President Arkady Ghoukassian–the cabinet of Karabakh and all Karabakh Ministers; Armenian presidential advisor Baruyr Hairikian–members of the Armenian National Assembly–members of Armenian Ministries–Hayastan All Armenia Fund Director Raffi Hovanissian; and Bishop Sebouh Chouldjian of the Diocese of Koukara–who read Catholicos Karekin I’s message.
