YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Complex Program of Restoration of Gas Supply in Populated Areas provides for completing the works on gas supply restoration by the end of 2001–the deputy executive director of the "Armgas" state-run joint stock company–Marat Hovhanissian–told Noyan Tapan.
He pointed out that along with the program of the gas distribution system restoration during 1998-2001–the modernization of the whole system is planned by introducing modern technologies–equipment–structural and operational systems. These will ensure economical and efficient gas consumption.
Hovhanissian reported that within the complex gas supply program joint activities are being carried out involving foreign firms and international organizations. Thus–under the American USAID project a program of registration of subscribers with the assistance of a local computer network will be implemented in August-September.
Under the "Gas de France" firm’s assistance program the restoration of gas supply for 800 customers in the village of Arinj of the Kotayk region–200 customers in the Nerkin Charbakh district in Yerevan and 300 customers in the town of Etchmiadzin was completed.
