YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The steering committee of the All Armenian Forum in Defense of Karabakh has not abandoned the idea of hosting a forum," steering committee chairman–presidential advisor Aram Sargssian said in an interview with Noyan Tapan. As for the date of the forum–Sargssian said it will be depend on when the need arises–as it was–for example–in 1996 and 1997.
Sargssian noted that a conference dedicated to the Karabakh resolution process has been scheduled to be held in September.
"We deem the role of the steering committee to be very great. Its significance was proven by its activities in the period of September-December 1997–when very important steps–which largely influenced the ensuing change of leadership–were taken," said Sargssian.
Sargssian also said that an organizational change had been made in the steering committee–taking into account his current position as presidential advisor. Sargssian continues as chairman–however–the operative control of the activities of the steering committee are exercised by vice-chairperson Larisa Alaverdian.
