Armenia Argentina to Expand Cooperation

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Armen Bayburdian–who is on an official visit in Argentina–met with First Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina Andres Sisneroz Monday. The two discussed issues–pertaining to bilateral political–trade and economic relations–as well as cooperation in realm of international organizations.

During the meeting between Baybourdian and chairman of the National Committee on Atomic Energy–D.Beninson and chairman of the State Body for Nuclear Regulation D.Amato–the sides agreed to draft an agreement of cooperation between the National Committee of Argentina on Atomic Energy and the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant.

Baybourdian presented Armena’s top foreign policy priorities–the situation in the region as well as the current state of the Karabakh peace process.

During the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister for International Economic Relations–E. Saduz–the sides agreed to arrange separate meetings of Armenian and Argentinean businessmen in fringes of the fourth forum of BSEC-Mercosur scheduled for May 1999 in Sofia.

Armen Baybourdian also met with president Carlos Bulzeroni of the large Argentinean gas and oil company "Bridas". The two discussed Argentina’s possible participation in the construction of an Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. The sides also exchanged views on the implementation of other programs.

The delegation of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also met with the Armenian community of Buenos Aires. The arrangemen’s were attended by Armenia’s Ambassador to Argentina Vahan Ter-Ghevondian.

The Armenian delegation left for Uruguay Monday.
