YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian–in his reply to a question brought up during Wednesday’s National Assembly meeting–said that the lack the impasse created by Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict resolution process hindered Armenia’s possibilities of joining the Council of Europe.
According to Oskanian–the acceptance of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Council of Europe without having had substantial peace talks over Nagorno-Karabakh will have conflicting results which are unacceptable for the Council of Europe. Georgia–on the other hand–has been accepted in the Council of Europe because its conflict with Abkhazia has been considered to be stabilized.
