Armenian Health Minister Meets Armenian Doctors in Moscow

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Armenian Health Ministry delegation led by Health Minister Hayk Nikoghossian held a meeting Wednesday with Moscow doctors of Armenian origin at the Armenian Embassy.

The minister outlined the current situation in the health sphere in Armenia. Nikoghossian found it advisable that the potential of Moscow doctors should be directed at improving the medical personnel in Armenia. During the last ten years the retraining of Armenian doctors in Moscow is on the decline–and the minister pointed out that the good tradition should be restored.

The speakers–Chief Anesthesiologist of Russia–academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Armen Buniatian–corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences–Pro-Rector of the Institute of Advanced Medical Studies Felix Vardanian–Deputy Director of the Bakulev Center of Cardiosurgery Rudolph Movsissian–Head of the Department at the same center Bagrat Alekian–Senior Researcher at the Hematology Research Center Anahit Melikian and others seconded the proposal and made a number of other interesting suggestions concerning the cooperation between doctors of Moscow and Armenia.

In his turn–Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gagik Shahbazian promised the Embassy’s assistance in solving the afore-mentioned problems.

It should be noted that 500 Armenia’s work in medical establishmen’s in Moscow–250 of them being candidates of medicine and over 100–doctors of medicine. Four Armenia’s are members of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Donat Sarkisov is vice-president of the Academy.
