Glendale ANC Endorses Rafi Manoukian for City Council

GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee Glendale Chapter announced Friday that it was endorsing Rafi Manoukian for the Glendale City Council elections–scheduled for April 6.

The ANC endorsement was the natural progression in weeks of campaign and election-related activities undertaken by the Glendale ANC.

Manoukian served as chairman of the Glendale ANC for more than two years–at a time when detrimental issues faced the Armenian-American community of Glendale. Through his leadership–Manoukian was able to rally all behind the ANC and its cause of advocating for the aspirations of the Armenian-American community.

"We are honored and privileged to endorse Rafi not merely for the leadership he has demonstrated within our immediate community–but also for his involvement in the City of Glendale’s well-being and enhancement and his vision for the future," commented Glendale ANC chairman Artin Manougian.

"Rafi’s background as a Glendale area businessman and resident–coupled with his involvement in variety of city-wide programs make him the best candidate to represent the residents of Glendale at City Hall," continued Manougian.

Manoukian and his wife Dzovig have lived and raised their family in Glendale for the past 11 years. Rafi–a certified public accountant–has been involved in numerous civic organizations and has led efforts for the betterment of the City of Glendale.

Manoukian currently serves on the board of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. He is also a the chairperson of the of the Legislative Action Committee.

Manoukian’s commitment to improving the quality of education for all of Glendale was demonstrated through his active participation in the passage of proposition K in 1997. Manoukian presently serves on the Glendale Unified School District’s Advisory Bond Committee. Having participated in the Glendale Leadership program and the city’s pilot mediation training program–and having a diverse background–Manoukian will bring a unique perspective to the Glendale City Council.

It is with the same vision for the future and the understanding of a government for all of Glendale that Manoukian led the fight on behalf of the Armenian-American community to secure the delisting of the St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church from the register of historical monumen’s–saving the church and the community scarce financial resources.

Most importantly Manoukian represents the future of Glendale. His actions and involvement demonstrate his commitment to his responsibilities and his willingness to embrace and pursue the needs of his community–his neighborhood and his city.

The Glendale ANC urges all residents of Glendale to cast their ballot on April 6 for Rafi Manoukian–a true leader for all of Glendale.

The Glendale ANC has already met with a number of the City Council candidates and has issued a candidate questionnaire–the results of which will be announced in the future.
