LOS ANGELES–Armenia’s Consul General to Los Angeles Armen Melkonian and newly appointed Consul Norair Ghoulamian visited the Western Prelacy last Thursday–to convey Easter greetings to the Prelate and to introduce to new consul to the Prelacy.
The guests were greeted by Western Prelate Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian–Very Rev. Krikor Tchiftchian–Rev. Vazken Atmadjian and Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee member Avedis Ispendjian.
Melkonian conveyed Easter greetings to the Prelate and the hosts and proceeded to introduce the newly appointed Consul Ghoulamian–who has taken over for outgoing Consul Edward Taranian.
Melkonian attended the Easter Eve Mass at St. Garabed Armenian Church–where Prelate Mardirossian officiated and said a sermon.
The meeting focused on issues surrounding Armenia and the Los Angeles Armenian community.
Following the official introductions–Melkonian presented the Prelate with a special passport bestowed upon him by President Robert Kocharian.
In presenting the document–which provides for free travel to Armenia–Melkonian expressed hope that the Prelate would visit Armenia more frequently.
Prelate Mardirossian thanked the President Kocharian for his generosity in bestowing this honor and praised the work of Consul General Melkonian–at the same time–welcoming the newly appointed Consul Ghoulamian.
