Plaque Commemorating Holocaust Victims Unveiled in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Members of the Jewish community of Armenia placed a memorial plaque in the center of Yerevan on April 20 to commemorate the six million Jews who fell victims to the Holocaust.

The Jews planted 12 oaks around the site. A monument will soon be erected in place of the memorial plaque.

The leader of the Armenian Jews Rima Varzhapetian (Feller) said during the opening ceremony that members of the community will also plant two fir-trees in the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial to the Victims of the 1915 Genocide of Armenia’s.

There are 300-400 Jewish families in Armenia today. Also–there is a Jewish Sunday school and an information and cultural center of the community.
