Gevorgain’s “The Last Collage” Film Awarded Bronze Pomegranate

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Rouben Gevorgian’s film "The Last Collage" about the great Armenian film-maker Sergey Parajanov was awarded the grand prize at the festival of movies held within the framework of celebrations of Parajanov’s 75th birthday anniversary.

At a solemn ceremony which took place on May 7 at the Opera and Ballet House a "Bronze Pomegranate" sculpture created by the late Benik Petrossian was given to Gevorgian by Petrossian’s daughter. According to Gevorgian–the award is very important to him–because he has not been awarded a prize for a long time and the prize was made by Benik Petrossian.

Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia Sergey Israelian awarded a prize to film-maker Roman Balayan for his "Night at Parajanov’s House-Museum," and the Association of Film Critics and Journalists of Armenia awarded a diploma to Akexander Kaydanovsky (posthumously) for the film "Maestro."

Twenty one films were presented for the festival. Festival initiators also announced that Benik Petrossian’s "Golden Pomegranate" will be the grand prize of the Parajanov’s international film festival.
