YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– Armenia and Belarus signed an intergovernmental agreement concerning military and technical cooperation on May 20. The agreement was signed by the defense ministers of the two countries–Vazgen Sargssian and Colonel-General Alexander Chumakov.
"A great historical event took place today – the document was signed not between the military departmen’s but between the governmen’s of the two countries," the Belarus minister underscored. He added that the agreement is a big step in a positive direction.
Chumakov expressed satisfaction with the fact that the signing of the agreement took place on the eve of the CIS Defense Ministers’ Council meeting. Further–he praised Armenia’s role in the CIS Collective Security Treaty.
