$10 Million to Be Spent On Highway Repairs

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–435.4 km of highway has been repaired in Armenia. The project cost more than $23 million. The Ministry of Transportation reported that an additional $10 million will be spent on repairs this year.

A total of 106 km are to be repaired in the Tavush region this year. 50 million drams were allocated from the state budget and by the Russian Fund of Humanitarian Assistance.

By the year 2000 640 km will be repaired–which is about 40% of all the highways in the country. The highway rebuilding program was launched in 1995 and will cost about $31 million.
