Yardemian Announces Candidacy for CV Water District General Elections

LA CRESCENTA–Crescenta Valley Town Council President Vasken Yardemian has filed his nomination papers for candidacy and announced to run for Crescenta Valley Water District General Elections.

Crescenta Valley Water District is the local government agency that is led by a five-member elected Board of Directors.

The agency is responsible in providing its service area with adequate and reliable supplies of high-quality water to over 32,000 customers. This Board approves all policy-making decisions. Crescenta Valley Water District’s service area includes most of the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta and Montrose–part of Glendale and La Canada Flintridge in Los Angeles County.

The elections are scheduled to be held on Tuesday–November 2–and the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder will notify the registered voters in the area about the election and the candidates by sending the sample ballot and voter information pamphlets.

"I am running for this elected position so that I can make a difference in the community" said Council Member Yardemian. "As a concerned citizen of the Crescenta Valley–I believe that this community deserves the best efforts to help it grow and prosper".

If elected to the Board of Directors–Yardemian’s top priorities would include these goals:

*Provide a reliable water supply;

*Preserve and strive for the betterment of water quality by protecting groundwater resources;

*Encourage water conservation;

*Minimize costs; and

*Improve communication by furnishing an Internet homepage.

*Publish a quarterly newsletter informing the public of critical water issues and District activities–in plain language that people can understand.

Council member Yardemian has been long active in both communities of La Crescenta and Pasadena. He has been elected to the Crescenta Valley Town Council in 1998–and he is the current president.

In the past–he has served on numerous technical and civic commissions and boards. He has served as a member of Planning Commission in City of Pasadena–where he has advised the City Council on the preparation and review of the General Plan. Yardemian is also a graduate of Pasadena Citizens Police Academy and a non-sworn member of the Police Department.

Since 1988–Yardemian has been employed by the South Coast Air Quality Management District as an Environmental Engineer with specialty in air pollution management–where he is responsible in developing and implementing rules and regulations in the mobile and stationary sources. He is a graduate of California State University–Los Angeles–where he has earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
