Karen Demirchian Met With Greek Ambassador

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–National Assembly Chairman Karen Demirchian received Greek Ambassador to Armenia Panayotis Zagrafos on August 12.

Greece closely follows the developmen’s and reforms in Armenia and is ready to render all-out assistance to the friendly nation–the ambassador declared.

The role of both countries’ legislatures in developing and expanding bilateral cooperation was emphasized. The Greek ambassador stressed the importance of creating friendship groups between the parliamen’s. He also called for broader cooperation within regional and international institutions.

Ambassador Zagrafos hopes that the recent meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Greece will give a fresh impetus to Greek-Armenian relations and will promote cooperation in various fields.

Praising the centuries-old relations between the two nations–Demirchian expressed satisfaction with current political cooperation. He called for deeper cooperation in economic areas. Both nations have much in common–we also have common goals. If these goals are achieved we can have better living conditions in our countries and held to keep the region stable–Demirchian underlined.

The two also discussed Armenia’s foreign policy and the activities of the Armenian parliament.
