50 Armenians to Climb Mount Ararat

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Catholicosal Locum Tenens Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian received a delegation of Turkish businessmen at Etchmiadzin Tuesday. The delegation was led by President of the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Economy Mehmet Yulmaz.

His Holiness offered his condolences on the recent devastating earthquake in Turkey. He hailed and encouraged mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenian and Turkish businessmen and hoped for this cooperation to promote the two nations’ economic prosperity.

The delegation members told the Locum Tenens that an expedition of 50 citizens of Armenia will be allowed to climb Mount Ararat next year on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as state religion in Armenia.

Ghazar Mirzoyan of the Meghraget Armenia-based tourism organization–told our sister publication in France–Gamk–that all necessary documen’s and permits have been obtained from the Turkish government.

Mirzoyan and his organization have been organizing tours from Armenia to Western Armenia for a year.
