PACE Chairman to Arrive in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Lord Russel Johnston will arrive in Yerevan on September 11 on a three-day visit. The PACE Chairman will be accompanied by his advisor Matio Griuden.

In Yerevan Johnston is scheduled to meet with President Robert Kocharian–Speaker of the National Assembly Karen Demirdjian–prime minister Vazgen Sargssian and other members of the government. Johnston will hold meetings with members of the parliamentary foreign relations commissions–members of the National Assembly delegation to PACE–and heads of parliamentary faction groups.

On September 13–Lord Russel Johnston will address the opening meeting of the second session of the Armenian parliament.

The PACE officials are also expected to visit St. Etchmiadzin–the Matenadaran–and the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial and meet with students at Yerevan State University.

The PACE delegation will head for Tbilisi after their visit to Yerevan.
