BSEC Conference Approves Armenian Hi Tech Group Project

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The Black Sea region should become "a meeting point" of the Eurasian and Euratlantic policies–economies and cultures."

This is the main idea expressed by the speakers at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation conference held in Greece September 8-12–Chairman of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian–who participated in the conference organized by the International Research Center of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation with the assistance of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy–told reporters September 16. Armenia was represented at the conference by Presidential Advisor Artashes Toumanian and other experts.

According to Navasardian–the conference participants highly appraised the reports made by the members of the Armenian delegation. Thus–the conference approved the project presented by the Armenian "Hi-Tech Group" company. The project provides for the establishment of a center of innovative technologies within the BSEC framework. The BSEC Ministers’ Council is to consider the project in November. The author of the project–Manager of the "Hi-Tech Group" company Yuri Gasparian said that the establishment of the center will promote the development of national innovative systems in the BSEC member-countries. Executive Director of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia Sahak Baghdasarian said that the conference participants showed great interest in Armenia’s banking and financial system.

The representative of the Armenian Center for National and International Research–Aghavni Karakhanian reported that the relations between the Caucasus states in the context of oil pipelines construction–transport corridors and the conflict between Turkey and Greece were also discussed. She said that Turkey showed once again that it will not make any political concessions–despite the requiremen’s set to the country in connection with its intention to become a member of the European Union.
