Armenia Fund Inc. Announces Appointment of New President

GLENDALE–Armenia Fund–Inc. announced the appointment of Zaven Khanjian as its new President. Having held the position of Vice President–Khanjian replaces Robert Barsam who resigned from the post in the Spring.

Khanjian and the balance of the Board are working on plans for the upcoming Telethon scheduled for Thanksgiving Day. The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to build the North-South Highway in Karabakh–a 169-Kilometer road connecting the northern and southern regions within the territory. This thoroughfare is vital to the existence and survival of the people living in Karabakh.

Armenia Fund–Inc. is the West Coast affiliate of the ‘Hayastan’ All Armenian Fund headquartered in Yerevan–Armenia. It is a non-profit 501 (3) corporation. Over the last two years–the Fund generated over $12 million to help build the Goris-Stepanakert Highway–a project which will be completed in early 1999–water distribution project for Shoushi and other important humanitarian deeds
