WASHINGTON–Armenia’s Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan met Tuesday with Vice-President Al Gore–who expressed his willingness in further US-Armenia relations.
During their meeting–Gore stressed that only through cooperation optimal relations may develop. He also praised recent meetings between Armenian president Robert Kocharian and his Azeri counterpart Haydar Aliyev in hopes of finding a lasting peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Gore said that the US would continue to actively involve itself in the peace process.
In his remarks–Sargsyan briefed Gore on Armenia’s socio-economic situation and thanked the US government and the American people on the assistance and aid they have provided Armenia’since 1988.
Sargsyan agreed that regional integration was necessary for better economic conditions and told Gore that while Armenia was ready to trade with Turkey–the latter has been unwilling to commence relations with Armenia. Furthermore–Sargsyan pointed out that Turkey has continued to impose a harsh border blockade of Armenia.
Sargsyan proposed the creation of a joint US-Armenia economic reform group–through which economic cooperation between the two countries would be established. He also urged the vice-president to increase US private-sector investment in Armenia.
At any rate Gore is correct with regards to global warming, right? Or is he? He says it was human-caused, not just the planet’s regular cycle over many thousands of years. You think?
