Gov. Davis Voices Concern Over Events in Armenia

TEL AVIV–Gov. Gray Davis Thursday expressed his concern and sympathy for the people of Armenia following Wednesday’s brutal assassination of Armenia’s prime minister and national leaders.

"Sharon and I are profoundly saddened and incensed by the slayings of Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan–Speaker Karen Demirchian and the six other officials in the Armenian Parliament. This unspeakable violence attacks the heart of the democratic process in Armenia," said the governor.

"Armenia’s–500,000 of whom reside in California–are an honorable people with an unparalleled history of faith and dedication to their culture and to their homeland. To Armenia’s in California and abroad I send my most sincere and heartfelt condolences. May the bright light of peaceful and harmonious democracy soon again shine over your proud homeland."
