In the name of the Armenian-American community of the Western United States we condemn the grave crime which occurred inside the Armenian parliament building on October 27–as a result of which the speaker of the National Assembly–the prime minister and other officials were murdered.

We express our complete solidarity with the government and people of Armenia–in order that Armenia quickly re-establish its internal stability and expecting that the authorities–through the rule of law–will administer the necessary steps to punish the perpetrators of this crime.

Given the situation–now more that ever–we find the Diaspora’s support an imperative for the establishment of democracy–the strengthening and reform of economy and resolution of social issues.

We hope that such criminal acts will never take place and the Armenian people and the government can work toward strengthening the Armenian statehood in peaceful means and will achieve the aspirations of the Armenian nation.

We would like to announce that we remain committed to the self-determination of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the people of Karabakh. We have great faith in the November 25 Armenia Fund Inc. telethon and we call on the Armenian-American community to financially and morally support the telethon–the proceeds of which will go toward the construction of the north-south highway–the "Backbone of Karabakh."
