ARF Regional Convention Issues Statement

GLENDALE–The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US held its 37th Extraordinary Regional Convention from Nov. 11 to Nov. 13. The convention issued an announcement–the translated text of which is presented below.

Representatives of the various chapters of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee took part in the region’s 37th extraordinary Regional Convention which took place from Nov. 11 to Nov. 13.

During the five sessions of the three-day meeting the participating more than 75 delegates and guests carefully addressed the agenda for the 28th ARF World Congress–scheduled to convene at the beginning of next year–and adopted corresponding resolutions.

The convention focused on the improvement of Armenia’s political–economic and social situation. The convention also emphasized the importance of the imperative to strengthen Diasporan communities. Also discussed were issues which the organization will confront in the future within the political–economic–social–academic and youth affairs realms and evaluated measures to address those concerns.

The convention also registered its disapproval with the inhumane crime which took place in the Armenian National Assembly building on Oct. 27 and concluded that such anti-national actions aim to weaken Armenia’s statehood and demoralize the people of Armenia.

Prior to the close of the meeting–the participants observed a moment of silence in memory of all those who perished during the Armenian liberation movement and the establishment of statehood.
