Armenia Russia Sign Scientific Cooperation Agreement

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At the end of the meeting of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Commission held in Yerevan–an agreement was signed providing for state cooperation in the science and education spheres.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Science and Education Migran Stakian said that the two countries’ relevant ministries and departmen’s were instructed to expedite the signing of a number of bilateral documen’s. In particular–mutual recognition of certificates on secondary and higher education–cooperation between Armenian and Russian engineering schools–and refresher courses for builders and architects are planned.

Stakian also pointed out that a package of normative documen’s will be prepared as outlined by a resolution on teaching the Russian language in comprehensive schools. The documen’s discuss methods of teaching–training and certifying teachers–and publishing manuals. The national education systems has already developed ties and the qualification of Russian language teachers in Armenia has improved. The relevant ministries in Armenia and Russia will allocate funds to repair the second wing of the building of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University and the Pushkin School No. 6 in Gyumri.
