YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian-US University Mammography Center provided free services for six months in different Armenian establishmen’s–mostly inhabited by refugees.
Around 2,000 of them were examined by the Center’s specialists–and a total of 11,000 people underwent a thorough examination.
The state-of-the art equipment at the Center allows to detect various kinds of cancer at an early stage and helps save many women’s lives.
The Mammography center was opened in Yerevan in 1997 with the assistance of Rita Palian–a US-resident Armenian benefactor. The money was raised by US residing Armenian females.
A new diagnostic center–equipped with modern facilities–opened in the northern town of Alaverdi in the new year. About $50,000 were spent on the construction of the center which will allow the inhabitants of the province of Lori to be examined here.
