Cyprus Beats Armenia 3 2 in Soccer

NICOSIA (Reuters)–Host country Cyprus surrendered a 2-0 lead when Armenia hit ack in the second half through Artur Petrossian and Arman Karamyan in the semi-final game of the Cyprus international soccer tournament Friday.

Armenia was reduced to 10 men momen’s before the end of full time when Romik Gahadrian was sent off for a second yellow card.

Cyprus finally clinched its place in the final through a golden goal in the 114th minute when Milenko Spoljaric scored from the penalty spot.

Romania and Cyprus both struggled before winning through to the final of the Cyprus international soccer tournament on through Friday. Romania needed a late equalizer to force a 1-1 draw against Georgia before winning their semifinal 4-2 on penalties while Cyprus needed a golden goal in extra time to edge past Armenia 3-2.

Georgia took the lead against Romania in the 41st minute through Newcastle’s Temuri Ketsbaia in a hard fought match in which five players from each side were booked.
